So, I have been looking forward to this book since I had finished reading the first one - which is to say a really long time! So, me being me, I ordered it when it came out! Miss Aveyard, you really need to learn to write faster, because after that ending, I don't want to wait for the next book!The development of Mare Barrow as a character in this book is pretty amazing. I think the best bit about her development was the fact that it is realistic! A lot of people would say that she moans a lot and doesn't see past herself and her own pain, but after everything that she has been through, I think her reaction is one that any person would have. She still steps up in this book and stops being this meek character who does everything that she is told by the people around her. She also doesn't forget her lessons. Whether they be from the Silver blooded people or the Red blooded, she uses every lesson to her advantage.Did anyone else get the feeling that Mare and Cal just are not meant to be? I really didn't ship their relationship and I just wanted it to end! It didn't give me the feels and it left me pining for the relationship that Mare had with Maven. I think Mare misses him in this aspect as well . which is probably not good for the relationship she has with Cal.'Anyone can betray anyone'. I have a theory to what I think will happen, but I think I will let you guys read it and make your own theories. I could be extremely wrong, but I think Cal is going to show some colours at some point. I also want Maven to pull a Warner from Shatter Me. No one wants Maven to actually remain evil, and I think Victoria would be cruel if that is the way she leaves him. I want the boy back that we thought we knew!Can I just say that ending??? I think I need to hibernate until the next book comes out. How do you expect me to wait until 2017???? I mean, c'mon! I need the next book. Please, write faster!!What I will say about this book is that I needed more Maven. I liked his scenes, though there were few. As a member of #TeamMaven, I feel like there just wasn't enough action from him and he was just skirting the outsides. We sort of heard about him, but not really from him.I really enjoyed this book - so kudos to Aveyard for not falling into the second book trap! I don't think I can wait until 2017 for the next book after an ending like that!! Again, she has me all turned around, looking for the answers!! I gave this book 4/5 stars
I found the red queen in our library and since I love this type of genre, I couldn't resist, but love the book. So I bought the "Glass Sword" right after. And I have to say I got a bit down from my hype.The first half of the book, was a bit difficult to read threw. The main character goes threw some changes which I as a reader couldn't understand to 100%. There was even a time in the book where I almost lost every bit of sympathy for her. And that made reading the book so much more difficult.But round about the half of the book was a turning point and it got better. The storyline got so much more interesting again and it turned out to be fun again to read the book.So overall this book was okay, but not as good as the first one. But I have the feeling that the second book in a trilogy is often the weakest of them all.
I just finished Glass Sword and I am done with the world.WTF, Vici?Why would you kill people I adored SOOOO much?Why is Maven such a scumbag? - he reminds me SO MUCH of freaking Joffrey.Why is Cal so hot and cold and makes me want to sing the Katie Perry song.So many WHY'S!First of all, I read the last 8ish chapters with lots of i-need-to-calm-down-breaks. There was SO MUCH going on. I just couldn't handle the tension, the feeling, that this mission might go terribly wrong. I feared for every character. I was afraid of the queen (who isn't?). I had to take deep breaths and tell myself, that this is just a story. No one is real. This world in my head is my own creation of this story. But that didn't help.And I THANK YOU Victoria Aveyard for another awesome story. :)This one was even more action packed but at some points throughout the story the action seemed a little bit too much. People were walking on a treadmill. So one less star for that!But this doesn't do the story any harm. I loved it! I want to know what happens next. I want to know what happens to Mare!!!And I just learned that the third books isn't even on the market - yet. =OOh btw: is it weird that I still have hope for a little lovey-dovey Maven-Mare reunion? =P
